The MindBrainBody Institute is situated at the Berlin School of Mind and Brain of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and is closely linked both to the graduate school and to the Department of Neurology at the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences (NRO-CBS).
The Institute performs research in three areas related to mind–brain–body interactions:
- The somatosensory system
- Mind–body–emotion interactions and stress (and their relation to vascular risk factors like hypertension)
- Stroke (focussing on somatosensory symptoms and pain & emotional disturbance)
Research projects are performed in close partnership with other groups at the Berlin School of Mind and Brain, at NRO-CBS, the German competence net Stroke, the Excellence Cluster NeuroCure at Charité (Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Freie Universität Berlin), the Center for Stroke Research Berlin (CSB), and the Bernstein Center for Computational Neuroscience.
