Grade improvement

Grade improvement for applicants

The master program "Mind and Brain" is currently updating the admission requirements for the admission period 2024 starting May 1st.

Please check this website again at the end of March 2024 to find the new admission regulations.

In the application period 2023, there will be no subject tests.

Instead, applicants can improve their grade point average by 0.1 if they provide a confirmation of previous on-the-job-training or work experience of at least 900 hours within the last 3 years. Please note: It may not be less than 900 hours and the confirmation may not be older than 3 years!

The on-the-job-training or work experience must have been extra-curricular! It may not have been a mandatory part of the curriculum of the applicant’s previous degree.

Please provide an informal letter from your employer with the company’s or institution’s official letterhead. The letter must state explicitely the exact time period of the employment as well as the number of working hours (either weekly hours for that period or total hours). Please note: Letters in which all or part of this information is missing will not be taken into account!

Only work experience / on-the-job-training with a connection to either the content of the master degrees or to future job perspectives can be taken into account.

Acceptable work experience / on-the-job-training for the Brain Track:
Work experience or on-the-job-training in the fields of psychology, biology, medicine or neuroscience of at least 900 hours in the last 3 years.

Acceptable work experience / on-the-job-training for the Mind Track:
Work experience or on-the-job-training in the fields of psychology, neuroscience, academic management or journalism of at least 900 hours in the last 3 years.

Please note that work experience in other fields can not be taken into account!

Providing documents for grade improvement is not a mandatory part of an application for the master's program Mind and Brain: Applicants can but don't have to provide respective documents.
